On Tuesday night, the curtain finally rose on a piece of New York theater history: “The Fantasticks,” the world’s longest-running musical, made its long-awaited Broadway debut at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. For generations, this off-Broadway staple enchanted audiences in Greenwich Village’s Sullivan Street Playhouse, where it ran from 1960 until the mid-2010s.
