Amara Okafor

Amara Okafor grew up between Lagos and the Bronx, and both cities shaped her journalism. At Made in NYC, she covers the communities, activists, and everyday New Yorkers who make the city function — and fight for it when it fails them. A graduate of CUNY's Craig Newmark School of Journalism, Amara is committed to solutions-oriented reporting that centers community voices over institutional ones. Her series on Bronx community land trusts won a regional journalism award.
